Chi Mei EL (CMEL), a subsidiary of Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), has delivered samples of 2.4-inch AMOLED (active matrix organic light-emitting diode) panels to clients, and volume shipments may start in September of October, according to company president Zhe-yang Chen.
CMEL has already started shipping 2-inch AMOLED panels in small volumes, with shipments reaching 15,000 units per month. CMEL's total capacity is 200,000 units (2-inch equivalent), Chen added.

Chen said yields for the 2-inch panels are more than 60%, while 2.4-inch panels are seeing yields of about 50%.
