4D Systems launches new GOLDELOX-SGC graphics controller for OLED

4D Systems, launched today its third dedicated graphics controller, GOLDELOX-SGC, designed to drive most popular µOLED and µLCD display panels in the market, offering one of the most flexible solutions available that will run ‘out of the box’.

GOLDELOX-SGC is an intelligent Serial Graphics Controller designed to interface with virtually all popular µAMOLED and µLCD display panels currently available in the market. The GOLDELOX-SGC is the third in a series of graphics controllers designed by 4D Systems and provides a simple, flexible and effective, low-cost graphics user interface solution for rapid application development and time-to-market.

The chip hosts a number of built-in features including powerful graphics, text, image, animation and complex sound generation capabilities. It offers a simple serial interface to any host micro-controller that can communicate via a serial port and allows users to develop their application using their favorite micro-controller and software development tools.

The new accompanied software tools allow the chip to easily interface with any display (CSTN, TFT, OLED) up to 256x256 resolution with an 80-series 8-bit wide CPU interface in a matter of minutes. The software tools also support the use of any windows font or self-created font (imported as external fonts) and changing the splash screen.

The chip and software tools are designed to take away all of the burden of low level design and allows designers to focus on the final User Interface and overall high-level design criteria, thus greatly reducing development time and costs. Some possible applications include elevator control systems, point of sale terminals, medical applications, security and gaming equipment, test, measurement and general purpose instrumentation.

“We are very excited with this new release that allows us to offer our customers long awaited new features such as the ability to interface with most displays in the market, support for Windows fonts and characters, and enhanced software development tools.” – Atilla Aknar, Managing Director, 4D Systems
