Holst Centre extends Roll-to-Roll line with new sintering tool

Holst Centre, an open-innovation initiative by imec (B) and TNO (NL), has released a new proprietary roll-to-roll (R2R) sintering platform for fast and low-temperature curing of printed conductive structures. This new tool is a next step in the creation of a complete tool set for R2R manufacturing. It enables Holst Centre and its industrial partners to further advance technologies for R2R manufacturing of plastic electronics, such as flexible OLEDs, organic PV and smart packaging.

Philips novel method accelerates progress in OLED lighting efficiency

Scientists from Philips Research and the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUe) have developed a novel method for accurately measuring the active layer in organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lighting. This is an important step forward for OLED device optimization and efficiency that is determined by the position of the very narrow zone in which the light is generated. The findings were published online in Nature Photonics on Sunday 14 March.

An impressive OLED installation by the lighting planners of ‘LichtKunstLicht’ is the main attraction on the OSRAM stand at the Light + Building show in Frankfurt from 11 to 16 April 2010. Design objects and luminaires use actual examples to show the range of wafer thin light sources with various colors and shapes.
