LG Electronics 4 Core Technologies to Develop


LG Group announced that they will concentrate on four areas when it comes to R&D investments: solar cells, lighting, next-generation batteries, as well as integrated heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. And because OLED Lighting is one of the most promising lighting technologies today, LG Chem will also focus on developing raw materials for OLED Lighting products.

LG to license OLED Lighting Tech to former Kodak employees Technocorp Energy

Technocorp Energy, formed by Kodak's ex-employees is going to utilize the OLED Lighting Technology that was developed by Kodak which was sold to LG last year. LG will be licensing the technology to the start-up company to carry on with the development of OLED Lighting.

HTC Supersonic Leaked Video


MobileCrunch shows a leaked video of the anticipated HTC Supersonic that was reportedly to have a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen - the largest OLED screen that will be put on a smartphone.

World's first ePassport with AMOLED display


Bundesdruckerei a German passport manufacturing company demonstrated the world's first ePassport that boasts a bendable AMOLED display during the CeBIT 2010 at Hannover. The AMOLED equipped Passport was developed with Samsung SDI.

HTC HD2, Motorola CLIQ XT T-Mobile - Release Dates Leaked


Boygeniusreport.com was able to get their hands on a leaked internal document about T-Mobile's release dates of two handsets – the Motorola CLIQ XT and HTC HD2.

The docs indicate that T-Mobile will be launching the Motorola CLIQ XT on March 10th. Features of this soon to be released handset:

  • 5 megapixel camera

Konarka and Konika Team up for Better Organic thin-film Photovaltics


Konarka Technologies, Inc. has signed an agreement with Konica Minolta Holdings, inc. to begin joining forces in developing and distributing organic thin-film photovoltaics. The said agreement wherein Konica Minolta invested 20 million into Konarka, is set to begin in April and will target better performing and more efficient organic thin-film photovoltaics.

A Korean company, gives a preview of their new PMP the iVIDI. This PMP player is equipped with a large 3.3 inch AMOLED screen, MicroSD slot, Auto Rotation with G sensor, and T-DMB TV tuner.

Microsoft Wireless Induction Charger in the works


Microsoft will soon produce their own version of wireless induction charger mat. A patent shows the charger's structure and how it works. The device uses an accelerometer that locates the right the battery and the charging point. It also sports an OLED screen that displays info, news and weather reports which means that the pad will possibly be capable of wireless internet connection.

Modistech will Commercialize Flexible OLED this year


Modistech, a Korean company who ventured in the OLED industry in 2001 is at present manufacturing flexible OLEDs. This makes them the only Korean company that focuses on flexible OLED surface lighting. They are seeking and developing more ways to improve and optimize colors white, orange and red for its plans of commercializing OLEDs for desk lamps, and exterior/interior lighting for cars.
