Canon still working on SED-Tv filed two new patents
On 30. April 2009 Canon filed two new SED-Display related patents at the US Patent & Trademark Office.
The patent descibe a solution on how electric fields in SEDs can be reduced in their size, and also a way to improve picture quality. There are also some rumors that Canon will be focus the broadcast market for their SED-TV Displays.

A few months before CES-2009 Canons president Uchida says:
"In regards to SED, we have a new production process we're working on which is cost competitive with liquid crystal displays." Canon sees displays as a natural complement to its existing business of cameras, printers and copiers.
