eMagin and University of Rochester ramp up a partnership to make OLED Lighting products

eMagin Corporation announced today the formation of a partnership with the University of Rochester to develop next-generation OLED for high-efficiency, solid-state lighting systems.

The research effort is being funded by the U.S. Department of Energy in a three-year, $1.3 million effort to more than triple the light output of the current generation of OLEDs. The grant to help develop the next generation of high-efficiency, solid-state lighting systems was awarded to the University of Rochester and eMagin Corporation. eMagin will receive a portion of the award amount for its work on the project.

eMagin Building Next Generation OLED Deposition Machine

Emagin announced today that it has signed an agreement to build its first production OLED deposition machine, one that will leverage the latest advances in the Company’s proprietary manufacturing processes. The new machine, which will be a key factor in the production of the company’s OLED microdisplays, is expected to increase OLED deposition capacity by approximately tenfold, to increase yield significantly and contribute to substantially more automated processes.

eMagin Posts Record Earnings and show new OLED microdisplays

Revenue for the three and twelve months ended December 31, 2008, of approximately $5.3 million and $18.7 million represent increases of 14 % and 7 % from $4.6 million and $17.6 million in 2007. Improved gross margins are a result of strong production volume and improved yields, and increased R & D contract revenue fueled the reported growth, resulting in eMagin’s highest earnings in the Company’s history.
