The designer Kareem Pownall from Hartford show a smartphone concept named “HTC Flex”. This is a smartphone with two screens including a flexible OLED touchscreen that scrolls out of the phone.
HTCs MWC-2011 press conference is tomorrow, but some HTC guys told us that HTC switch back to AMOLED in various devices.
The HTC Desire-2 will be introduced with an improved AMOLED Display. We think its similiar to Super-Amoled, but HTC can not use that brand. More details about size, resolution etc at the press conference tomorrow.
There are rumors that HTC want to introduce the Desire-2 with Super-Amoled. NO word about the size or resolution yet. Maybe HTC want to show this new smartphone at the MWC-2011 in Barcelona. Our friends from hi-tech.mail.ru make a great review from the HTC Desire HD with Super-LCD against popular smartphones. The conclusion is always the same OLED has a better contrast better colours less power consumption better reaction time.
The smartphone makers are having a hard time keeping pace because of the OLED shortage.
Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) can produce 3 million panels per month but this is not enough for the smartphone and portable media player market.
