Merck to present different innovative products for 3D and OLED displays

Darmstadt, Germany, October 11, 2010 – Merck KGaA announced today that it will be exhibiting at the IMID / IDMC / Asia Display 2010 from October 11 to 15, 2010 in Seoul (Korea). The global pharmaceutical and chemical company will be highlighting its innovative products for the display and lighting segments, focusing on new technologies for 3D displays.
Merck New Material Research Center in Darmstadt
With the opening of a new research center, the pharmaceutical and chemical company Merck is underscoring the importance of chemical research at its corporate headquarters in Darmstadt. German Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and Dr. Karl-Ludwig Kley, Chairman of the Executive Board of Merck KGaA, officially opened the Material Research Center (MRC) in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Federal State of Hesse Volker Bouffier as well as about 300 other guests. The research and development center comprises two six-story buildings as well as a pilot plant with a cleanroom and offers 340 employees a modern working environment.

NEMO Project: 11 Partners Conduct Research on New OLED Materials
Merck KGaA and DELO Industrial Adhesives announced today
that it has launched a project called “New materials for OLEDs from solutions” (NEMO) together with renowned partners from industry and science. The objective of this project, which is being co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is to develop innovative, soluble materials for use in large-area organic light-emitting diode components for
devices such as televisions, electronic traffic signs or lighting systems. The total budget amounts to around € 32 million.
