The researchers from the National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi developed graphene quantum dots-based material that may lead to cheap and efficient solar cells and OLED displays. This new GQD material isn‘t composed of toxic metals anymore so there won’t be any problems for large-scale device applications.

Using GQD-based material could lead to light weight, flexible, cost-effective OLED-panels and roll to roll manufacturing.

Apple files three OLED Display patents

It looks like Apple want to introduce OLEDS in the near future in their products, because Apple files free different OLED patents.
In the first graphic Apple confirms that this device is a handheld or a tablet (Ipad-3?) The technology is not limited to that of a tablet device and that their OLED Display technology will apply also to other devices like the Iphone, iPod, or a MacBook.

Apple Patent 20100321305 is generally about driving an OLED display structure that is integrated with a touch sensor configuration.

Samsung 4G LTE smartphone for Verizon

A few days ago Samsung and AT&T introduced the Infus 4G with a 4.5 inch Super-Amoled Plus Display. Now Samsung Mobile announced the Samsung 4G LTE smartphone for Verizon.

The Samsung 4G LTE smartphone boasts a brilliant 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus touch screen display, 1GHz processor, a rear-facing 8-megapixel camera with LED flash ,a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and runs Android 2.2.

Super-Amoled Plus is nearly the same like Super-Amoled but they increased the number of sub-pixels for more detail and better outdoor visibility.

LG Group plans huge investments in Electronics and AMOLED

The LG Group announced that they will boost the investment in 2011 by 12 percent. LG Group plans to invest 18,8 billion dollars. 70 percent of the investments are for LG Electronics, smartphones, tablet-pcs, OLED.

LG Display will continue to work on AM OLEDs, 3D panels and electronic paper, while LG Innotek will push high-end LED light bulbs.

BiNem/OLED dual-mode display inventor Nemoptic bankrupt ?


Nemoptic presented us a dual-mode BiNem/OLED display technology, a display that combines a colour OLED with a monochrome Bistable Nematic LCD which can maintain a monochrome image even when power is removed or an colour OLED image.

But now the company has declared bankruptcy because they couldn´t find any buyer for their bistable epaper displays.
