Technological breakthrough at OSRAM: researchers and developers have achieved a new efficiency record in the laboratory for OLED. The laboratory sample achieves 87 lm/W, significantly exceeding the current peak value. And the most important thing: the laboratory sample is highly proximate to the product, thus paving the way for highly energy-efficient OLED products with considerably higher brightness.

OSRAM now offers a commercially available OLED and LED luminaire for the first time. The concept comprises five mobile ORBEOS panels reflective from behind, woven in a double helix of brushed aluminium that catch the directed light of the LEDs in the base.

At the Lightfair 2010 in Las Vegas Osram shows also their ORBEOS the first OLED Lighting Product from Osram.

The new ORBEOS OLED panel is an ultra-thin organic LED that emits pleasant, diffused light while consuming a fraction of the power used by conventional light sources.

Osram show an impressive Orbeos OLED installation by the lighting planners on the Osram stand at the light+building show in Frankfurt. Design objects and luminaires use actual examples to show the range of wafer thin light sources with various colors and shapes.
