Universal-Display relevant patents are invalidated in Korea and Europe?

The korean company Duksan Hi-Metal is taking legal action because the company can not produce phosphorescent OLED materials because of the patents of Universal-Display.
For a few weeks UDC lost the recent court battle in Japan, while previously as of March 23 two of its other material patents were invalidated.

UDC says it will appeal the Japanese ruling and emphasizes that other patents remain valid and enforceable.

Duksan says that UDC wasn’t the first to use phosphorescent materials commercially.

Universal-Display improve PHOLED materials lifetime and efficiency

At the SID-2011 Universal Display announced new PHOLED material record in lifetime and efficiency.
The main problem is always blue with only 20.000 hours (LT50) Green-Yellow reach 1.4 million hours, and their red color reach 900.000 hours.

Plextronics OLED Ink Again Demonstrates Boost in Lifetime and Lower Operating Voltage

Plextronics announced today that its Plexcore® OC NQ ink has been integrated into Universal Display Corporation’s P2OLED™ solution-processed, phosphorescent OLED technology to assist in achieving lower operating voltage and longer lifetime in test devices. The latest developments were announced by Universal Display Corporation at the International Display Manufacturing Conference (IDMC 2011) held April 18 – 21 at the Taipei International Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan. This is the second time in less than five months that UDC has announced breakthrough performance improvements in its P2OLED™ program that include the use of Plexcore® OC NQ ink.

Universal Display Expands Presence in Japan with New Subsidiary

Universal Display enabling energy-efficient displays and lighting with its UniversalPHOLED® technology and materials, today announced that the company has established a new subsidiary in Japan to better serve and support the needs of the company’s OLED display and white lighting customers and partners in the country. The new subsidiary, Universal Display Corporation Japan KK, is headquartered at 6-12 Nishi-Shinbashi, 1-Chome, Minato-ku, Tokyo 105-0003. As part of the growth in Japan, Universal Display is pleased to announce that Dr. Kentaro Harada has joined the new subsidiary as Key Technical Account Manager, Japan.

Universal Display Corporation Prices Offering of 5.000.000 Shares

The Company has granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 750,000 shares during the next 30 days to cover over-allotments, if any. The Company estimates that the net proceeds from this offering, before offering expenses, will be approximately $217,350,000, or approximately $249,952,500 if the underwriters’ over-allotment option is exercised in full.

Universal Display about the AMOLED shortage

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Universal Display says in an report:”We are pleased to report a significant improvement in our second quarter 2010 financial performance,”Revenues rose significantly and our operating loss was reduced by two-thirds compared to the second quarter of last year.
