Universal-Display improve PHOLED materials lifetime and efficiency

At the SID-2011 Universal Display announced new PHOLED material record in lifetime and efficiency.
The main problem is always blue with only 20.000 hours (LT50) Green-Yellow reach 1.4 million hours, and their red color reach 900.000 hours.

Toppan and Casio showcase 7 inch Full Color printed AMOLED

Toppan and Casio showcase a 7.4 inch printed full colour AMOLED panel. Toppan and Casio ramped up some joint venture to produce small to medium sized OLED panels.
Now they developed a new relief printing method to produce small to medium sized AMOLED with lower production costs. The advantage of the relief printing method is that it can be patterned on the big screen even in high throughput.

Sony showcase 3 inch printed Hybrid OLED

Sony showcase a 3 inch printed Hybrid OLED with 270ppi. The resolution of this printed OLED is VGA. At the moment we do not have more information about this new printed hybrid Oled from Sony. We think Sony showcased this new technology at the SID-2011. At the SID Sony introduced also a new manufacturing process for OLEDs which improve the image quality.

Sony developed a new manufacturing process for OLEDs which improve the image quality

Sony developed a new OLED Panel with Self-aligned Top-gate Oxide TFT. With this technology the image quality was improved by reducing the uneveness of brightness.

Sony showcase a 9.9 inch OLED prototype and a pixel count of 960 x 540 at the SID-2011. The brightness of this panel is 200cd/m2 with an all-white signal and 600cd/m2 or higher at its peak. The contrast ratio is 1.000.000:1 or highter with a color gamut of 96% on NTSC standards.

UDC four sub-pixel display architecture reduce power consumption and extends operating lifetime for OLED-Tvs

Universal Display introduce a new four sub-pixel display architecture. RGB1 B2 using enhanced light blue materials system for B1.

OLED TVs using phosphorescent OLEDs can be environmentally ‘green’ and consume less power than comparable AMLCDs. In addition, the use of phosphorescent OLEDs reduces operating temperature rise to extend display lifetime and reduce cost. In a comparison of various display architectures, Dr. Hack highlights added power consumption and lifetime advantages through the use of the company’s novel four sub-pixel architecture for OLED TVs.

Sony show 13.3-inch Flexible Color E-paper at SID-2011

Sonys e-paper has a thickness of 150 ?m and a weight of 20g or less by using a plastic substrate. Other technical features are 13% color gamut on NTSC, a reflectance of 10% and a contrast higher than 100.000:1
