CMELs AMOLEDs focus to the mobile TV market
With the yield rate for large-size AMOLED panels still being low at present, CMEL is still focusing on 10-inch and smaller products. Nevertheless, in one to two years, AMOLED will become the key technology for mobile TV applications, noted the company.
CMEL also stressed that the company will not completely give up large-size AMOLED panel development, adding that it may start producing large-size AMOLED panels in 2009.
CMEL said in August that it will start volume production of 2.4-inch AMOLED panels soon. In addition, CMEL plans to start sample production of 4.3-inch AMOLED panels in September and will showcase the product at a trade fair to be held in Yokohama, Japan in October. In addition, the company expects to ship 8.1-inch AMOLED panels in the second half of 2008.
