Heliatek GmbH (Dresden/Ulm) develops organic solar cells consisting of so called “small molecules” organic dyes which are synthesized from hydrocarbons. Those solar cells are characterized by low cost, short energy payback time and inexhaustible availability of raw materials.
ETRI Develops Highly Efficient OLED Light Source

Etri has developed a highly efficient OLED light source that can replace widely used incandescent bulbs, a state-run electronic laboratory.
Last week also the german IAPP announced some new record. The scientists of Dresden achieve a device power efficiency of 90 lumen per watt.

Institute for Applied Photo Physics in Dresden report a about a new record in Oled lighting.
In the journal nature, the scientist Sebastian Reineke report how they achieved this record. The scientists of Dresden achieve a device power efficiency of 90 lumen per watt.
The outlook for the OLED-display technology
Organic-Displays are the latest and most promising buzzwords in display technology.
OLED ("Organic light emitting diodes") displays are considered as the screens of the future. Thin organic layers serve these displays as a source of light, which offers significant advantages in relation to conventional technologies:
* brighter and more brilliant picture
* unlimited viewing angle
* low power consumption
* economic production
* fast "response time"
