LG Display buys Kodaks OLED unit

kodak
Kodak announced that they will sell their OLED business unit to LG Display.
This move will tighten Kodak’s investment focus and strengthen its financial position.

Kodak will have continuing access to its OLED technology for use in its products. Subject to customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.

IGNIS demonstrates breakthroughs in AMOLED backplane technology

IGNIS Innovation Inc., a world leader in the design and development of thin film transistor circuits and driver algorithms for AMOLED, will demonstrate important breakthroughs in the field of AMOLED image compensation technology at its booth at the FPD International Exhibition in Pacifico Yokohama from 28th ~ 30th October 2009.

Kodak demonstrated the their flexible OLED Display under water!
OLEDs are notoriously moisture-sensitive, so this is quite an achievement for the Kodak researchers team.
Flexible OLEDs have the potential to be a game-changer for the display world, realizing a unique form factor at lower cost. They also have broad applications in the lighting industry.

Kodak OLED technology on Green Magazine TV

Kodak OLED technology will be featured on Green Magazine TV, a show produced by WDCC TV and airing on major networks.

The show is about companies that are leading the way to a more sustainable future. Kodak's continued innovations in OLED technology will make the world a better place, with applications in both flat panel display and solid-state lighting. Kodak's compelling OLED "Green" impact will ultimately result in panels having fewer sub-components for ease of recycling, absence of heavy metals requiring special handling (such as mercury), and lower energy consumption.

Novaled and Kodak jointly develop white OLED platform for display applications

Novaled and Eastman Kodak presented results of their joint research efforts in the area of white PIN OLEDs for AMOLED display applications at the SID. Based on Novaleds p- and n-type doped transport layers and Eastman Kodaks fluorescent emitter systems, single unit and tandem white OLEDs for the potential use in RGBW OLED displays were presented. For both approaches high efficiencies at low voltages combined with a very good white emission and long lifetimes were achieved.

SID 2009 Display Week Highlights

The Society for Information Display (SID) announced today some of the latest highlights and must-see events transpiring at Display Week 2009, in San Antonio, Texas. As the leading global organization dedicated to the advancement of electronic display technology, SID’s week-long 47 th annual International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition continues to serve as the premier venue for the electronic display industry to unveil its latest advances.

University of Rochester and Kodak researchers show new "non-blinking" nanocrystals

Scientists from the University of rochester have uncovered the basic physics thind the phenomenon of an optical quirk called "blinking" and along with Kodak researchers they created a nanocrystal that constantly emits light.

With blink-free nanocrystals, Krauss (an expert in nanocrystals) believes lasers and lighting could be incredibly cheap and easy to fabricate.

DOE to support OLED lighting projects

The National Energy Technology Laboratory, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is pleased to announce its selections for solid-state lighting (SSL) funding opportunities. Fourteen projects were chosen in response to Core Technology and Product Development Funding Opportunity Announcements.

The DOE supports a lot of Oled lighting project here they are:
