For a few days we reported that Panasonic and Toshiba want to introduce a 37 inch OLED-TV in 18 months.

Reuters are now reporting that Panasonic team up with Sumitomo Chem to develop super-thin Oled Television panels.

There are new rumors that Panasonic want to introduce a 37 inch OLED Television device within 18 months to 2 years.

This information comes from the Senior Panasonic executive which were in Australia. He said that Panasonic is currently researching HD OLED Televisions.

There are rumors that Panasonic want to bring out the Leica D-Lux 5 in 2010 at the Photokina with an OLED Display. The rumor said ther there is 90% of chance to see OLED screen on the LX5.

Toshiba Corp said it would buy out its LCD joint venture with Panasonic Corp for about 2 billion yen ($20.3 million), aiming to speed up decision-making and restructuring to turn around the loss-making venture.

Toshiba will buy Panasonic's 40 percent stake in Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology, which is the world's second-largest maker of small and midsized LCD panels used in cellphones, car navigation systems and other devices.

After making the venture wholly owned and changing its name to Toshiba Mobile Display Co, Toshiba plans to focus on OLED Displays it said.

Dongbu may supply its latest AMOLED flat-screen driver chip for Japan's Panasonic and NEC.

On Wednesday, Dongbu said it has successfully developed a display driver IC (DDI) in operating the next-generation flat-screen panel of active-matrix organic light-emitting diodes.

The chip is to be used in high-end portable electronics devices such as ultra-mobile PCs, navigations, digital frames and other multi-media players, according to its spokesman.

"The shipping target date is expected in the second quarter of the year," an industry source told The Korea Times.

Panasonic Electric Works Co Ltd prototyped an Oled lighting Panel, part of whose organic semiconductors were made by printing processes.

The panel has high luminance efficiency and color rendering properties, according to the company. It was introduced in a speech delivered by the company at Printable Electronics 2009, which took place from Feb 18 to 20, 2009.

Matsushita attempts to commercialise large scale OLEDT TV Panels

In an interview, Panasonic says:
We are currently advancing research and development in view of OLED production at IPS Alpha's Himeji Plant for the future, but nothing specific has yet been decided on the commercialization of our OLED TV at the moment."

Panasonic (Matsushita) is moving toward commercialization of OLED TV panels and plans to put TVs with 37-inch OLED screens on sale in the next three years, according to the Sankei Shimbun daily.
