Philips is leading the European project called Place-it which stands for Platform Large Area Comfortable Electronics by Integration.
Place-it which will go on over the next 3 ½ years aims to develop sharp, luminous textiles that are capable of emitting light and producing images through the use of optoelectronic devices, OLED technology, sensors and electronic control devices. It won’t be long till we have baby blankets, furniture textiles (sofa, chair, blanket, etc) and clothing that produces light and images!
