Toshiba enhance light extraction efficiency of OLED TVs and lighting equipment

Toshiba Corp exhibited a technology that can significantly enhance light extraction efficiency of OLED TVs and lighting equipment at the International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference.

OLED is anticipated to become an important light-emitting device for the next generation," Toshiba said in a statement.

The new technology is designed to form patterns called "nano-grating," which have a pitch of several hundred nanometers, on a SiO2 substrate.

Sumitomo develops new Light-blocking Material for OLED Panels

Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co Ltd developed Ag-Sn alloy nanoparticle dispersion liquid that transmits 90% less visible light than carbon black.

The dispersion liquid was exhibited at the nano tech 2009 International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference, which is taking place at Tokyo Big Sight from Feb 18 to 20, 2009.

The company expects that it will be used as a black-matrix (BM) material for blocking light between pixels in an LCD or OLED panel.
