Hitachi to join Sony and Toshiba to produce LCD and OLEDs?

Japan want to create a national manufacturer of small/medium LCD/OLED Displays for smartphone and tablet-pc market.

Now Hitachi joining talks between Sony and Toshiba about merging non-television display businesses, according to people familiar with the matter.

The new company, which would be majority owned by a government-backed investment fund, would be the world’s largest producer of touchscreen liquid crystal displays.
If Hitache join the team INCJ could double its investment to 2.5bn dollar. This would be used to expand the production line of OLED Displays. Sony plans to release the next generation Playstation portable the Ps-Vita with a 5 inch OLED Display.
