Merck is the leading in R&D, manufacture and marketing of materials for Organic Light Emitting Diode displays and light sources.
The chief of the chemical industry from Merck Bernd Reckmann says in an interview that Merck is working on future technologies like photovoltaics, OLED Technology and LEDs. The advantages of Merck is that at this markets we have similar customers as at the LCD industry.
Bernd Reckmann says that OLED does have the most potential for the future, and is the only technology hat can be compete with LCD technology in next few years.
Merck believe that 2011/2011 the first OLED Monitors and larger Televisions are introduce from their customers at the market.
In the past Merck does have 50% margin from the LCD market, this margin can not be hold at the OLED market. But innovative future technologies are normally a good bargain for Merck.
