Leadis Technology buys LED IP from Nuelight

Expanding its product portfolio, Leadis Technology Inc. has acquired intellectual property (IP) from Nuelight Corp. for an undisclosed price.

Based in Santa Clara, Calif., Nuelight is a private company that has been engaged in the development of solutions for active-matrix OLED (AMOLED) displays.

The acquired IP will add in the development of AMOLED display drivers. The acquired technology is expected to improve manufacturing yields by correcting non-uniform brightness without increasing backplane complexity, according to the companies.

"This acquisition represents a major milestone in Leadis' AMOLED strategy and will allow Leadis to offer our AMOLED customers leading display driver solutions,'' said Jose Arreola, general manager of display driver products, in a statement. "AMOLED displays offer tremendous promise for higher quality displays in many high volume applications.''
