Expanding its product portfolio, Leadis Technology Inc. has acquired intellectual property (IP) from Nuelight Corp. for an undisclosed price.
Based in Santa Clara, Calif., Nuelight is a private company that has been engaged in the development of solutions for active-matrix OLED (AMOLED) displays.
The acquired IP will add in the development of AMOLED display drivers. The acquired technology is expected to improve manufacturing yields by correcting non-uniform brightness without increasing backplane complexity, according to the companies.
“This acquisition represents a major milestone in Leadis’ AMOLED strategy and will allow Leadis to offer our AMOLED customers leading display driver solutions,” said Jose Arreola, general manager of display driver products, in a statement. “AMOLED displays offer tremendous promise for higher quality displays in many high volume applications.”
