In an Strategic Seminar for advanced industrial OLED, Han Chang UK from LG Display announced that white OLED can overcome the limitations of RGB independent patterning (FMM).
That means that white OLED can be used in the large area substrates for OLED-Television production and more than 400 ppi resolution can be implemented.
LG Display shows a new 20.7 inch medical display with a QSXGA 5 Mega Pixel (2560×2048, 5:4) resolution.
LG Display developed the white OLED tandem method, this technology could be processed by inline color filter lamination process on top of W-Oled fabrication and has the advantage of reducing the tack time.
Another advantage is that LG can increase the material efficiency by 2-3 times by narrowing the distance between the source and substrate without using mask. With this new technology LG-Display can increase efficiency, lifetime and color coordination! At the moment the most widely used method is RGB independant perrning method (FMM).
LG shows also new 15 inch OLED HDTV prototypes applying high efficient tandem white OLED and the RGBW structure to produced color reproducing rate over 100%.
This is the same panel LG showed at SID-2010.
