Samsung Mobile Display announced today that the 5.5th generation OLED production line starts in July 2011. Samsung began the construction of a $2.1 billion investment in Tangjung South Korea. The new plant and the existing AMOLED lines will have monthly output capacity of 70.000 sheets (1300 × 1500 mm).Samsung can produce 30 million 3 inch class displays per month with all lines, so with this capacity Samsung can also deliver to Apple for Ipod, Iphone etc.
Samsung Mobile display will mostly manufacture three to four inch panels for smartphones. But Samsung will also start a trial production of 42 inch OLED-Tv devices.
