Diginfo shows a new video about TDKs transparent and bendable OLED prototypes.
TDK exhibited, for reference, a see-through OLED display with world-class definition, as well as an OLED film display which is less than 0.3 mm thick.
The OLED see-through display utilizes TDK’s unique technology to achieve a high definition of 220 ppi. This see-through display is intended mainly for mobile phones. In the future, it’s expected to be used for wearable displays as well.
“The transmissivity is still only 50-60%, but if we can ultimately achieve 80%, we think this display could also be used for camera viewfinders.
The other new TDK prototype, the OLED film display, is thin and can be bent. Panels using this display are also very light, at 0.05g/cm2. The film display can be used to achieve a variety of product designs, by attaching it in places with a radius of curvature of up to 25 mm.
