Sir Howard Stringer says in May 2008 the 27-inch OLED Television (XEL-2) is available in the next 12 months. Now a few weeks before the IFA-2009 in Berlin opens there are some tips that Sony does not introduce the XEL-2.
In an Interview for a few months Sir Howard Stringer says:
"We got great praise for OLED, but then you don't sell any. So then, all of a sudden, you have a different problem," said Mr. Stringer.

In April there was new rumors that Sony want to introduce the second generation from their Oled-Television device the XEL-2 at the IFA-2009 in Berlin.

But Sony does have some problem with the TV division which lost 127 billion yen ($1.34 billion) last fiscal year, representing more than half of the company's operating losses for the year, which ended March 31. Televisions accounted for 16.5% of Sony's 7.73 trillion yen in revenue.

Eric Lee, an analyst at Barclays Capital, said delaying a new OLED TV would be the latest indication of a more disciplined approach to the business. "It's probably better for Sony to hold off for now," said Mr. Lee. "I don't know who would be buying it."

The 27-inch model XEL-2 is incredibly 10 millimeters thin panel and offers over 1,000,000 :1 contrast ratio with outstanding brightness, exceptional color reproduction, and a rapid response time.

But maybe its the 21-inch which Sony showed at a Display Show in Japan.

This 21 inch device does have a resolution about 1366x768 pixel and is only 1 cm thick. The contrast ratio is 1.000.000:1 like the XEL-1
