OLEDNET completed their Annual Report of the OLED industry in 2009 wherein they also included their expectations for the year 2010.

According to the reports, the company to have produced the largest AMOLED shipping for the year 2009 is SMD. SMD (Samsung Mobile Display) produces various panel sizes of AMOLED from 2.2 to 3.7 inch; however, last year they focused on producing 3.0 to 3.2 inch panels for mobile phones. OLEDNET expects 3.7 inch panels to have over 80% of SMD’s production this year due to the rising smart phone market.
Other important info that the annual report shows for the year 2009:
- CMEL – produced 2.0 inch to 7.6 inch AMOLED panels for mobile devices and photo frames.
- LG Display – 2.2 and 3.0 inch AMOLED panels. Also produce the biggest AMOLED display – 15 inch AMOLED TV.
- SONY – 2.4 and 11 inch AMOLED panels.
Expectations for 2010:
2010 expectations were drawn based on the reports.
Samsung will introduce their 5.0 and 7.0 inch AMOLED displays in the market.
LG Display will make AMOLED panels at 2.7 inches (digital cameras), 4.3 inches (portable TVs) and 3.0 inch WVGA AMOLED (mobile phones).
While 20 – 40 inch OLED panels are expected from Japanese companies like Toshiba, Matsushita and Hitachi.
The new company TMD is expected to produce their AMOLED mobile displays this year while AUO will start production in 2011.
