At SID-2010 Sang-Soo Kim, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Samsung Mobile Display says at the keynote:
OLEDs will be the next big thing in displays
OLEDs are faster, brighter, lighter displays take significant share of the premium smart phone and television markets, in part because the technology allows better 3D TV. Samsung confirmed that they are investing 2.5 billion Dollars in new fabrication lines,but this is just the starting point.
We will lead and make our vision become reality, because we have learned that the market is created, not forecasted.

OLEDs on G8 substrates will be the mainstream technology for premium TVs by 2015
Samsung now ramping up its G4.5 OLED fabrication line which is production ready in 2012.
OLED-TV will become the mainstream display technology for TVs by 2015!
By 2015, OLED could reach 600 million units, or 53 percent of the market, he said, though he later said that number could be as high as 1 billion units.
Barry Young, managing director of the OLED Association, was very bullish about the technology, though he also noted the issues in cost-effectively scaling the technology to Gen 8. He said that in addition to Samsung, LG is also committed to build a Gen 5.5 OLED display, and other technology makers are working on the new technology.
