The Philips research scientists have developed the world first white OLED lighting module that can be powered directly from a main electricity supply.This is only a prototype but its important that OLED lighting modules can also plugged into standard power outlets.
This will reduce the bill of materials and simplify luminaire design for future OLED-based systems aimed at mass-market general illumination applications.
