To better cater to clients’ needs, Chen said CMEL will soon also unveil a size in between 2.8-inch and 4.3-inch segments, and it will probably be 3.5-inch, a screen size which is currently popular in such portable devices as iPhone, he said. Some industry observers predict that Apple may adopt AMOLED panels for its next-generation iPhones.
Chen said technologically speaking, CMEL can put out AMOLED panels in the 3-4-inch classes, but it is still working on raising its yields and capacity to meet demand.
