Samsung Mobile Display and LG-Display plans to invest 17 billion dollars into the OLED technology until 2015.
Samsung invests from 2006 to 2010 13 trillion won in to the LCD technology, now the same huge investments Samsung plans in the next 5 years for OLED!
The huge investments starts next year with 3 billion dollars. SMD ramp up a 5.5 gen and LG invest also in a new OLED panel fab.
SMD plan also a 8G plant for OLED-Tv, total investment from Samsung Mobile Display until 2015 are 9 Billion dollars. Samsung Electronics invests from 2006 to 2010 11 Billion dollars in to the LCD-technology. So as you can see the investments are equivalent in the future.
LG Display and LG Chem are planning also huge investments in Organic light emitting diode technology. LG Chem want to ramp up a plant for OLED-Lighting. Total investment from LG until 2015 should be 8 billion dollars. SMD plans to begin with the 8G production line in Q1 2012.
