Samsung Mobile Display reaches monthly shipments of 2 million AMOLED panels
Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) reached a monthly shipment volume of two million AMOLED panels in July 2009, according to the company.
Market observers indicated that SMD's AMOLED panel shipments were driven up by Samsung Electronics' extensive adoption of AMOLED panels in its high-end handsets, helping SMD widen its lead on competitors including LG Display, Toshiba Mobile Display (TMD) and Taiwan-based Chi Mei EL (CMEL).
SMD is also supplying AMOLED handset panels to other vendors such as Nokia and Sony Ericsson, the observers said, nothing that SMD's AMOLED panel shipments are mostly 2- to 4.8-inch ones.
