Wow some another great news from the IFA-2008, some Samsung official told us that the Korean company want to introduce the 14.1 inch OLED Panel early in 2009. Samsung is under pressure because Sony are running away with the nascent Oled market.
Samsung shows there 14.1 inch and 31 inch OLED prototype at the IFA-2008. Our friends from Techradar also have some informations that Samsung want to introduce OLED panels. Young Joong Noh tells Techradar a price tag about 1000 pfund.
However, he was keen to point out the superior panel they Koreans will be releasing:
"Sony's TV is only standard definition; in our case we'll have a HD OLED TV with 120Hz capability," he said.
Samsung shows us now the 31-inch panel which come also with a contrast ratio of 1.000.000:1. The depth is less than 2 cm.
The chic, ultra-slim OLED TVs employ AM OLED panels developed by Samsung SDI, a Samsung affiliate dedicated to display production. The finished products weigh some 40 percent less than other LCD TVs of the same size while boasting a contrast ratio of 1 million to one, color gamut of 107% and brightness of 550nit. Samsung will begin commercial production of mid- to large-sized OLED TVs around 2010.
Young Joong Noh said also: When we make OLEDs, we have to modify existing LCD lines," he said. "The company is now developing production lines just for OLED, which will cater for mobile to the larger sizes we provide for LCD.
