Samsung Mobile Display want to produce a 7 inch AMOLED Display with an improved resolution in September 2011.
At the FPD-International 2010 Samsung showcased the first 7 inch prototype with a WSVGA 1024×600 Pixel resolution. Samsung want to improve that resolution in their new version to 1024 × 768 Pixel. Samsungs new 5.5 G OLED production line start their production in June-2011. But Samsung Mobile Display want to improve not only the resolution, the prototpye at the FPD-2010 was a standard AMOLED. So it can be possible that the new 7 inch production ready panel has included Super-AMOLED-Plus technology.
The glass substrate size of a 5.5G production line is 1.300×1500 mm instead of a 4.5G of 730×920 mm. This boost the productivity competitiveness significantly.
Samsung Mobile Display goal is to reach 720P (1280×720 Pixel) for the 7 inch Panel in the near future. The pixel density is 180ppi
Perhaps the new 7″ panels will offer 720P HD resolution (1280×720) which means 180 ppi pixel density. But we think this 720P resolution will be introduced with a 4 inch size maybe for the Google Nexus Prime.
If Samsung Mobile Display can boost the production of the 7 inch panel its possible that we see a Galaxy Tab or Netbook with an OLED Display end 2011.
