The smartphone market grow very fast and the shipments of small sized Amoleds used in smartphones, portable multi media player and many other applications are reaching 184.5 million units in 2014. In the year 2009 the OLED companies sells only 20.4 million units. The LCD Display panel shipments for this kind of market are expected to grow from 1.3 billion in 2009 to 1.75 billion in 2014.

Short supplies of Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diodes are slowing the display technology’s bid to challenge the dominance of the LCD technology. HTC which build Googles Nexus One and many other smartphones have to switch from Organic panels to LCD Panels in the future because Samsung need all production capacity for Super Amoled!

Short supplies of Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diodes are slowing the display technology’s bid to challenge the dominance of the incumbent AMLCD technology in the smart phone market, according to iSuppli Corp.

At the moment only Samsung Mobile Display and LG Display can deliver OLED panels for the smartphone market.

Samsung Mobile Display and LG Display are ramping up new production lines which are production ready in 2011.

The Taiwanese AU Optronics Corp and TPO Display are planning to introduce small size OLEDs also in 2011 but booth can not produce so much panels.
