SID-2008 Rolls Out Blockbuster Program of Luminary Speakers

"Display Week 2008 will certainly be action-packed--with a number of interesting sessions and panels surrounding all facets of the display industry," said SID President-elect, Dr. Paul Drzaic. "You'll be asking for an encore once you catch sight of the recent developments in 3D and what Hollywood has up its sleeve with big-budgeted films exhibited in stereoscopic 3D. You'll also have a front-row ticket to attend a much anticipated face-off between TV experts about what technology is poised to dominate over the next few years; a look at the continued growth of mobile applications; and a sneak peek at some of the new touch innovations in the display space. We're also excited about the caliber of speakers at this year's forum--all esteemed leaders in the industry. Lastly, we're pleased to have a major distributor--Avnet--as a co-sponsor of a blockbuster session on how to optimize display technologies in myriad applications."

Here are some OLED focused key speakers:
Yoshito Shiraishi, general manager, E-Products and Business Development Department, TV Business Group, Sony Corp.--Shiraishi's keynote will look at both the challenges of being the first organic light-emitting diode (OLED)-based TV manufacturer and the long-term business opportunities for OLEDs in the display marketplace.

DuPont (Booth #119) will be highlighting its recent announcement to form a strategic alliance with Dainippon Screen Manufacturing Co., Ltd., to develop integrated manufacturing equipment for printed OLED displays. The companies also have signed an agreement relating to their intention to bring together the elements needed - materials, technology and equipment - to mass produce OLED displays, delivering higher performance at a lower cost. In addition, DuPont will showcase its next-generation DuPont(TM) Vertak(TM) bonding adhesive for LCD enhancement, which is now especially formulated for ease of reworkability, a feature highly prized by display manufacturers.

Epson (Booth #819) is debuting its new OLED display systems capable of producing the "Ultimate Black". To realize the requisite high-quality representation of textures, Epson has been uncompromising in its efforts to achieve "the ultimate black", since it is black that holds the key to overall image quality. In addition, Epson has addressed the problem of early stage brightness deterioration by improving the light-emitting materials and through the development of Epson's own original element structure. As a result, Epson has succeeded in lengthening the life of the display system to more than 50,000 hours.

LG Display (Booth #519) will showcase its latest cutting-edge display technologies, which will include the largest 52" Multi-touch Full HD Display for public displays, a 15" TFT-LCD made by an All Layer Roll Printing Process and a 6" oval TFT-LCD, 1.4" round TFT-LCD for small and medium displays, demonstrating the company's ability to change the shape/design of LCDs--3D. The company will also feature a 15" Dual Plate a-Si AM OLED as well as flexible e-book displays, including its 14.3" Color Electrophoretic Display.
