Bad news from Sony the japanese company discontinued production of OLED-TV for the mass market!
Sony will continue selling OLED-monitors for its corporate clients. Sony sell this professionell monitors like the 24.5 inch model E250 to the broadcast market.
Sony says that the company want to concentrate its home use Television production business on LCD models.
Sony was the world first company which sells a 11 inch OLED-Tv XEL-1.
Sony stop selling the XEL-1 in 2010, Sony want to continue its sales, research and development of OLED-monitors for the broadcast market.
At the CES-2011 Sony shows off 24.5 inch glasses free 3D OLED-Displays. We can not understand why Sony give up the OLED-Television for the mass market!
Samsung and LG-Electronics push there OLED-Tv forward and showcase new OLED-Television prototypes at the CES-2012.
Sony says in an official statement:
TOKYO, January 7, 2012—-Certain media reports were published on January 7, 2012 (JST) regarding Sony Corporation’s executive officers’ appointments. Sony Corporation has made no announcement in this regard and nothing has been determined at this time.
