Since demand for small- to medium-size LCD modules (LCMs) is now ahead of supply, Star World Technology, a Taiwan-based LCM service provider, is recently said to have bought some of Opto Tech’s OLED (organic light-emitting diode) production equipment.
Opto Tech ended its OLED business in November 2006. Sources said Star World has bought some equipment from Opto Tech that can be used for LCM production for use in its own capacity expansion.
Eric Kuo, spokesperson of Opto Tech, said its two OLED lines have not been sold and only a small part of its equipment was purchased. Although there are lots of buyers visiting related facilities of Opto Tech, there is as yet no decision on the final buyer, Kuo noted
