Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co Ltd developed Ag-Sn alloy nanoparticle dispersion liquid that transmits 90% less visible light than carbon black.
The dispersion liquid was exhibited at the nano tech 2009 International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference, which is taking place at Tokyo Big Sight from Feb 18 to 20, 2009.
The company expects that it will be used as a black-matrix (BM) material for blocking light between pixels in an LCD or OLED panel.
Sumitomo Osaka Cement developed the liquid by dispersing Ag-Sn alloy in water. The Ag-Sn alloy particles measure 20 to 50nm in diameter. And the concentration of the solution can be controlled between 5 and 30 percent by weight. However, the company’s spokesperson declined to comment on how it made the Ag-Sn alloy.
