An interesting statement from Sony today. He claims that in the long term OLED will be the future for both 2D and 3D Televisions and displays.
He says also that direct display technology - similar to plasma - is a better way to watch TV.

AUO start OLED mass production in 2011

AU Optronics (AUO) want to start its OLED production line in 2011 says there CEO, LJ Chen.
The production line will be a 3.5G LTPS line, with this AUO can produce small to medium size OLED panels.

At the CEATEC-2009 in Japan Mitsubishi introduced their new OLED concept made with 10x10cm square units.
LG Display plans to start operation of its 8G LCD plant and set focus to OLED
LG Display plans to start operation of an additional line of its eighth-generation LCD plant and to focus on new growth areas such as 3-D display, solar cells, e-paper and OLED this year, its CEO Kwon Young-soo said. Kwon Young says: "We may start to produce 30-inch OLED TV panels in 2012."
LG Display, the world's No. 2 flat-panel maker, yesterday posted an operating profit in line with market forecasts, with the company expecting profit to improve in the current quarter.
China to build Pilot OLED Base
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) support the government of Guangdong provice to build a OLED base.
Also an OLED industry alliance was established among the 20 Guangdong-based companies and institutes, including IRICO Group Electronics Co., Ltd., China Display Technology Co., Ltd., Anwell Technologies Ltd., Truly International Holdings Ltd., TCL Corp. (SZSE: 000100), and Sun Yat-Sen University.

Sony plans no new OLED-Tv product in 2010
Sonyinsider interviewed Stan Glasgow Glasgow the president of Sony electronics and asked him if Sony plan to introduce a new OLED-Television in 2010.
