Holst Centre extends Roll-to-Roll line with new sintering tool

Holst Centre, an open-innovation initiative by imec (B) and TNO (NL), has released a new proprietary roll-to-roll (R2R) sintering platform for fast and low-temperature curing of printed conductive structures. This new tool is a next step in the creation of a complete tool set for R2R manufacturing. It enables Holst Centre and its industrial partners to further advance technologies for R2R manufacturing of plastic electronics, such as flexible OLEDs, organic PV and smart packaging.

Printing OLED light panels production start in 2010 says General Electric

GE want to begin volume production in 2010 for flexible, paper-thin lighting panels.
GE said it will print OLED semiconductors on flexible polymer substrates, then encase them in ultra-high barrier coatings.

OLED Christmas tree from the GE Global Research Team

The Ge global research team take some roll-to-roll OLED lighting panels and make some christmas tree.

TRADIM made a TFT LCD panel with a roll-to-roll method

The Technology Research Association for Advanced Display Materials (TRADIM) made a TFT LCD panel with a roll-to-roll method using a TFT array and a color filter formed on film substrates.

The panel was made from a 3.5-inch amorphous Si-TFT and a color filter formed on 300 (W) x 50m (L) film substrates.
This technique enabled to produce all the LCD panel components other than oriented film and liquid crystal material by the roll-to-roll method. The LCD panel announced this time used such film substrates and was assembled by the roll-to-roll method.

GE build new Roll to Roll OLED printer and want to sell organic light bulbs in 2010

The size of a semitrailer, it coats an 8-inch wide plastic film with chemicals, then seals them with a layer of metal foil. Apply electric current to the resulting sheet, and it lights up with a blue-white glow.

GE plans to build a larger machine that can print panels several feet wide. Its output could be sold commercially as early as 2010, Duggal said, but he acknowledged that's a "very aggressive" goal.
