Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Vitex Systems and Battelle are working to adapt a film encapsulation process which is currently used to coat panels that use OLEDs. That technology and cooperative research recently penned between Vitex Systems and Batelle would enable flexible solar power shingles.
Plextronics installs D-Line to produce 6-inch square photovoltaic solar or OLED-panels.
The new $6 million manufacturing line at Plextronics Inc. in Harmar is designed to provide a link between the laboratories where that technology is being perfected and the manufacturers that eventually will produce it for consumers.
