There are rumors that Apple want to introduce the new Iphone 4G/HD on 22 June because Apple booked the Yerba Buena Center for an major event.
There are also rumors that the Iphone 4G/HD comes with an OLED Display. We know the OLED market very well and here are the hard facts:
There is only one company in the world which can deliver so many AMOLED Displays for Apples Iphone 4G/HD. This company is Samsung Mobile Display! We know that LG Displays invests a lot of money to ramp up a new production line for OLED Displays. But they are not ready yet to produce so much panels. For a few days Apple signed a contract with Samsung over 240 million dollars. Samsung have to deliver 3 million iPad LCD SPVA Displays to Apple. But Apple extend also their contract with LG Display which was originally signed for 500 million dollars up to 800 million dollars.
Also digitimes.com report about this deal:
Samsung Electronics has reportedly become the second supplier of TFT-LCD panels for iPad using its SPVA (supper patterned vertical alignment) technology, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
So this deal bring Samsung back to deliver Displays to Apple but:
We know from our OLED industry sources that Apple want to use OLED technology in their products but Apple has very high technical requirements. That means Apple does not accept Samsung „standard“ AMOLED technology.
Apple has been reluctant to use OLEDs in their iPhone, because of the power consumption on email and web browsing. They may be changing their position as the efficacy of the material increases.
And thats the point Samsung mobile display can also deliver their new SUPER AMOLED Display with integrated touch function which promise:

- 20 percent more brightness, better color representation
- 80 percent less reflective and
- 20% more battery life.
So only SUPER AMOLED can reach the technical requirements of Apple! We don´t know if the capacity from Samsung is high enough at the moment to produce so much Super Amoled panels for their own smartphones (Galaxy S, Wave, I8520 Halo) and for Apple. So we are sure if Apple introduce a new Iphone on 22 June it´s without Organic light emitting diode technology.
